Empowering African women politically and economically is something Maka cares deeply about, and she believes that starts with a supportive community. Her role at PFS includes supporting the senior leadership team, as well as supporting volunteers on field projects. What she loves most about her job is interacting with people who have great ideas, and being part of the work to bring sustainable solutions to challenges facing the African continent. Maka is from Zimbabwe and came to the US to attend St. Catherine University, where she had the chance to participate in a number of classes and conferences that ignited her passion for international development. She earned her BA in International Relations with a minor in Women’s Studies. Maka aspires to serve as a government official working primarily on foreign policy and diplomatic relations. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling and experiencing new places. Her favorite place so far: the Grand Canyon.
